GRAPHITE    West of soapstone quarry, Canterbury, NH
2.8 cm specimen with areas of silvery graphite on quartz.
Species:           GRAPHITE
Locality:          West of soapstone quarry, Canterbury, NH
Specimen Size: 2.8 cm specimen with areas of silvery graphite on quartz.
Field Collected: Tom Mortimer - 2013
Catalog No.: 1891
Notes: My first thought was that this soft gray metalic-like mineral might be native silver. An EDS analysis showed there were no metalic elements present.
Graphite is more common in New Hampshire than many collectors realize.
